Spending your Holiday season in Cocoa Beach? Looking for fun activities to keep the holidays exciting while enjoying the warm year-round weather Florida has to offer? Here are some festive suggestions to do for both tourists and residents alike!
Melbourne Light Parade and Candlelight Shopping
On December 8th, get ready to celebrate the 26th Annual Melbourne Light Parade! This whimsical event includes locally made and designed floats from boy and girl scouts, businesses, churches, and community groups. Truly in the holiday giving spirit, the purpose of this event is to collect non-perishable foods, toys, and dog/cat food to give to those less fortunate in Brevard County. After the parade, make sure to visit Historic Downtown Melbourne for Candlelight Shopping. Shops will stay open late to help you find some gifts for your loved ones this holiday... or for yourself! These are but a few of the festive things to do in Melbourne, FL this holiday season.
Surfing and Skydiving Santas
Since 2009, Cocoa Beach has hosted an annual special gathering of surfers every Christmas Eve. Beginning with a small family of three to grow into over 300, the event has become a staple for things to do in Cocoa Beach for your Christmas Eve tradition. Share the Christmas magic Florida-style by catching waves donned in your best Santa outfit with your best buddies! It’s for a good cause, too; all proceeds go towards the local “Grind for Life” organization and the Florida Surf Museum. Make sure to come out this December 24th!
There will be another exhilarating event this season for those wanting to dress up as Santa… skydiving! Join us on December 15th at the Cocoa Beach Pier to either take the plunge yourself, or watch others do it. Jump from a WWII "Tico Belle" C-47 Skytrain, a Bell UH-1 "Huey", or a Chicago Skyvan! Jumpers will also be provided limo shuttling.
Cocoa Beach Main Street Winterfest
Cocoa Beach’s Annual Winterfest will be held this year on December 8th, from 3 – 9 PM. This event will include fun for the whole family, with music, vendors, crafts, and even real snow! Under the theme of “Snowstorm in Downtown”, make sure you dress warmly for this one-of-a-kind Floridian winter experience!
Space Coast Symphony Orchestra
On December 15th at 7 PM, our local Space Coast Symphony Orchestra is partnering with The Avenue Viera for a free concert! There will be a wide selection of holiday classics, including Sleigh Ride, Christmas Festival, and many more. In addition, there will be a number of musical selections from popular movies, such as the Sound of Music, Miracle on 34th Street, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Polar Express, and Star Wars. With Santa and Mrs. Claus taking front-row seats as well to this program, it’s sure to be one of the most exciting (and affordable!) Cocoa Beach attractions for this time of year.
